APPLICATION TO BE A VOLUNTEER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT
We are always looking for motivated, conscientious, and responsible volunteer research assistants (RAs) who would like to gain experience conducting forensic psychology research. Getting involved in our lab would be a particularly useful for those who are considering law school or graduate school in Psychology (and related fields).
We use an apprenticeship model here: students are exposed to different tasks, depending upon their experience and interests, with opportunities to increase responsibilities over time. RAs will be trained to undertake various research activities, such as conducting literature reviews, developing stimuli and research protocols, pilot testing, recruiting participants, administering language assessments, interviewing participants, transcribing interviews, recording and editing video stimuli, administering lie detection tests, coding cues to deception, and entering data.
RAs will be mentored by the lab director and current graduate students. In return, RAs will be expected to attend regular lab meetings and commit a minimum of 5 hours per week to volunteering in the lab for two consecutive semesters.
Applicants should have:
– completed at least one semester at Ontario Tech
– received a grade of at least “A” in a Psychology or Research Methods class
– a current cumulative GPA of at least 3.3/4.3
Please complete the application here, and upload recent copies of your unofficial transcript and resume/CV. We review applications and arrange interviews based on current lab needs. If you have not heard from us, we don’t have any current opportunities that match your skillset; however, we will keep your application on file.
